Haiti Earthquake
The Haiti earthquake is the worst disaster in the last 200 years in that region. The Red Cross estimated that about three million people are affected by the quake and probably more than 120.000 people died, this is only an estimate. Since only days after the devastating earthquake there have been numerous mass burials and bodies set afire in the streets. The exact number will never be known. Haiti remained relatively calm, contrary to what many had expected, but lootings made even more victims than the quake had already claimed. After 18 days from the quake Port au Prince is still cut off from electricity and safe drinking water is in short supply, Haiti's infrastructure that was already bad before the disaster is one of the obstacles for International NGOs and aid workers that are struggling everyday to bring help to the population affected area.
