20th anniversary of Srebrenica massacre.
Each year on the 11th of July Potocari hosts the commemoration of the death of 8,372 Bosniaks at the hands of of the Bosnian Serb Army of Republika Srpska.
Every year new victims are identified and buried in Potocari’s Memorial Cemetery.
The carnage that occurred in Srebrenica still hasn’t been recognized as genocide and Russia’s veto this year blocked a possible formal acknowledgement.
Serbia’s prime minister was contested and forced to leave the celebration.
To this day Srebrenica remains an open wound that impedes the countries of ex Republic of Jugoslavia to start again and enhance dialogue
